What is Adopt-A-Park/Trail?
Adopt-a-park/trail is a public service program for volunteers who are interested in cleaning up Empire’s parks and trails. This program will also assist Township maintenance crews with assigned tasks and projects within a park or trail in order to create clean park/trail environments for all to enjoy!
Who Can Adopt-A-Park/Trail?
Anyone! This project is designed for individuals or small groups and organizations (i.e. community groups, civic organizations, churches, and individual citizens). Adopt-A-Park/Trail aims to unite and support all people interested in improving Empire Township's parks and trails. NOTE: Adequate supervision must be provided to volunteers less than 18 years of age.
Why Get Involved?
It is an excellent way for citizens and organizations to make a personal contribution to the township. Some projects that volunteer groups will work on include: general litter and refuse clean-up, planting and maintaining trees and garden beds, park planters and assisting the Township on improvement projects. Litter is unsightly, and destroys the natural aesthetics of our beautiful parks and township. A litter free community is inviting to visitors and prospective new citizens and businesses as well as our residents.
How long is the commitment?
The Township prefers a one-year minimum commitment from volunteer(s). At the end of this year, the organization or individual(s) may renew, change sections (if available) or terminate.
What will be provided to Volunteers?
Volunteers will be supplied with the needed equipment to complete their commitment including rakes, bags for trash and any other needed tools. All adopters will be publicly recognized on Empire Township’s Website and at our Annual Meeting.
What else should I know?
Empire Township will help you select a park or trail to adopt. Participants under 18 years of age must have adequate adult supervision. Groups shall arrange pick-up dates in advance with the Township.
