Volunteer Programs and Opportunities
Vermillion River Watch Program
Volunteer to monitor the health of the Vermillion River. Data gathered is used to identify or implement stewardship activities that protect and enhance the river. The program builds awareness and appreciation of the Vermillion River and its ecology, and established baseline water quality data. Vermillion River Watershed Stewards Program
Volunteer to protect and clean up the Vermillion River. Participate in hands-on educational programs, including prairie ecology hikes, prairie seed collections, clean-up events, and trout surveys. For more information call Paula Liepold at 952.891.7000.
Citizen Stream Monitoring Program
Volunteer to make weekly visits to a water quality monitoring station and take several basic measurements of stream health. The results of this program are used supplement other water quality monitoring efforts taking place in Dakota County.
